I have a random question...

'Sup? I've been playing for a year but I'm still pretty much new to a lot of aspects of this great game. I've done dungeons and heroics, not many raids, etc. etc. But the crux of this post is that I was thinking of roleplaying somewhere with my orc elemental shaman and was trying to think up of a backstory for her. Maybe this sounds weird, maybe it doesn't, but I was never much of a fan character person so I find myself really struggling to make up a proper story for her.

I read up on the orc lore (nevermind about being confused with timelines and whatnot) and I decided to have her be relatively young, around 25-27 maybe, and part of the Frostwolf Clan.

But what I can't seem to find information on is about the Blood of Mannoroth. If my sources were correct, Durotan refused to drink from it, as did his clan, and they were thus "exiled" because of it. Does this mean that orcs born into the Frostwolf Clan had no experience of internment camps? And does it mean that they were never "lethargic" or addicted to warlock magics, hence never had to experience withdrawal symptoms?

I'm thinking of placing her birth a couple of years after the Second War (or maybe during it as the timeline seems to be pretty wide for it) and maybe having one of her parents or relatives from an internment camp and having married into her family and the Frostwolf clan after being freed. But is this something unheard of in orc society or is it relatively "safe" for there to be marriages within clans?

I'm sorry if these questions seem silly because the answers to them are obvious and I just didn't see them, but I'm honestly stumped here. Thanks in advance to anybody willing to help out!

It's a reasonable question. I'm not sure if anyone but Metzen (Warcraft's creator) has an answer.

The book, Rise of the Horde, deals a lot with the Frostwolf clan, particularly with Thrall. It might give you some ideas.

Based on my admittedly meager knowledge of clan workings in the real world, it doesn't make sense not to permit some intermarriage between clans, especially smaller ones with a limited gene pool. Maybe there was a small neighboring clan that was friendly with the Frostwolves? The impression I have of Orc society is that it's largely matriarchial ("matrons" and "greatmothers"), so it would be the male moving to the female's clan.

I'll have to check that book out then. Hopefully it can give me some answers!

That makes sense. I know the Frostwolf Clan had good relations with Orgrim because of Durotan, and despite the shady reputation the Blackrock clan has now, I could possibly have her father be a member of the Blackrock clan who fled like Eitrigg and wandered, eventually somehow being led to Alterac Valley... or maybe he could have been in one of those internment camps and later on freed, thus winding up in the care of the Frostwolf clan. I think I prefer that one...

Thanks for the help! :)
