Hacked? Update

I asked another board about what happened and they said that it would be strange for someone to repsond to me if the account had been hacked. They went on to suggest that I send Brian Mail in-game... so I did

I sent the following

Quote:
Brian, If this is you could you please reply and let us know that you are alright, Lea and I read some of the last few post you left on the Nubuds site and we are kinda worried.

Now mind you Brian was not logged on when I sent that... but no longer than a second after I had walked away from the mailbox next to the Org Bank I received a mail back! It was from Brain and I swear he wasn't logged on at the time...

T H ? S I ?
? U ? A ? I
T ? I ? R E
A L

If he is your IRL friend, maybe you could just call him?

metao, Brian is one of those guys that hardly ever has a cell, and when he does he doesn't even set up the voicemail...
The thing that kind of sparked all of this is that we've not seen hide nor hair from him since 11/12...
Seeing someone on his account is the nearest we've seen that he is alive and ok.

how did you get those letters?

I googled each of the numbers.

If it's been that long and you're worried...maybe you should try calling the cell anyway, and if you still can't get him...well, maybe a call to the police is in order.

reservoir, we've not reached him by phone, and any call to the cops would seem kind of dumb if we say we've seen him in the game right?

Not if it's been two weeks and he's responding with nonsense on the game, aka hasn't confirmed it's actually your friend. I would call the non-emergency police number and explain that you haven't heard from your real world friend in over 2 weeks, except to see his character online in a game, but that it's possible it's not actually him, since he's just responding with gibberish.

Do you know any other members of his family that you could contact?

No, it doesn't make sense. Was that an actual URL in the subject line or was it all Xs? It might seem odd that a hacker would respond to you, but if he's a gold seller he might be set up to autorespond with the gold seller website. Report it, and if he's your RL friend, contact him through non-WoW means.

slyon, nope it was all X's
I mentioned to metao I've kinda struck out at reaching him through non-wow means.

It's possible Blizzard has some type of filter in place to block certain URLs. That may be why it is displaying with proper syntax, but the information is marked out.

Just a stab in the dark. Whatever happens, OP, I hope you find your friend. I'd probably open a GM ticket and just report the account as hacked anyway - that way if it is your friend, he'll have to confirm with Blizz. Sure it will be a pain in the butt for him if it IS him, but if it's not, you're saving him from further potential trouble.

(Speaking personally, I'd understand if a friend of mine did it to me and gave me the screenshots you've got as a reason. That's some weird stuff.)

yeah, i'd go ahead and say he's hacked.

apart with the fact that he has been hacked (or maybe trying some hacks himself) I'd be worried about locating the guy himself... better go out of your way and find out how he's doing.

by not reporting this person you are essentially supporting gold farmers. if it is him, it will get unlocked in no time. REPORT IT.

huh?

Since when did goldfarmers post codes to flickr?

Explain the monetization strategy in that? Gold farmers barely have time to sleep, let alone screw around on Flickr
